Beginner Quilting with Jo Dennis (3 day Class)

Jo's Beginner Quilting Class is great for the new quilter or someone who was self taught and needs a little extra help making your quilting experience better.  You will learn from on of the best, Jo is a retired Home Economics teacher and loves all things quilting.  This is a class that is broken up in to three sessions, Saturday, May 7th, May 21st, and June 11th from 10AM-4PM each day.  Between classes you will have a little homework to bring with you to the following class.  Please bring your own lunch. 

During this class you will be making a small sampler quilt with a finished size 40 1/2" x 40 1/2" great for a wall hanging or table topper.

Jo will be teaching the following topics during this class:
*Color selections
*Essential Fabric Knowledge
*Cutting Basics
*Thread & Needles 101
*Pressing vs Ironing
* Construction of Basic Quilting Blocks
*Adding Borders
*We will discuss options for "finishing your quilt" (adding the backing and binding)

We ask that class supplies be purchased at Two Chicks Quilting, we will assist you in getting the right fabric and supplies you need for class...you will receive a 10% discount on all fabric & supplies purchased for the class.  You can bring your own machine, please make sure it is in working order and you know the basic operation and threading of it.  Machines are also available for rent, ask us for details.

Supplies Required, available at Two Chicks Quilting:
*Start Quilting with Alex Anderson, 3rd Edition Book
*Fabric list will be emailed to you after sign up and Two Chicks Quilting will assist you in picking out what you like
*1/4" foot for your machine
*Rotary Cutter with new, sharp blade
*Ripper
*50 wt thread for piecing (we prefer Aurifil brand)
*Pins
*Small scissors for snipping threads

Optional Supplies:
*Mini iron and ironing mat
*mini cutting mat
*small 12" ruler for trimming

Classroom Supplies Provided:
Large cutting mats, long rulers, ironing stations, irons
